Information regarding Endorsement at Merit or Excellence Level
If a student gains 50 credits at Excellence, their NCEA will be endorsed with Excellence. Likewise, if a student gains 50 credits at Merit (or Merit and Excellence), their NCEA will be endorsed with Merit.
Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:
14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and
at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.

Internal Standards
3.1: AS 91387 Carry out an investigation in chemistry involving quantitative analysis
3.2: AS 91388 Demonstrate understanding of spectroscopic data in chemistry
3.3 AS 91389 Demonstrate understanding of chemical processes in the world around us
3.7 AS 91393 Demonstrate understanding of oxidation-reduction processes

3.4: AS 91390 Demonstrate understanding of thermochemical principles and the properties of particles and substances
3.5: AS 91391 Demonstrate understanding of the properties of organic compounds
3.6: AS 91392 Demonstrate understanding of equilibrium principles in aqueous systems
